Installing emoticons
First download a smiley or emoticon package you like. Currently MessengerBling.com has more than 1.000 custom smileys and emoticons for you to download. You can view and download them here (or by clicking on the 'Smileys'-link on the top of this page).
After you have found and downloaded a smiley or emoticon package you like, you will have to unpack it. Unpack the package to a directory on your computer. Any directory will do, just remember where you unpack the smileys to.
Open your Windows Live Messenger and click on "Tools" or on "Extra". If you cannot see the top menu, just press the "Alt"-key on keyboard. The menu should now be visible. Next click on "Emoticons". See the screenshot below.

When you have clicked on "Emoticons", you will see the following screen:
Now click on the "Create..."-button and you will see the following screen:
In the "Add a Custom Emoticon"-window first press the "Find image..."-button and point it to the directory where you have unpacked your smileys or emoticons. Now enter a keyboard shortcut for the smiley you just have added and give it a name (optional). Now press the "OK"-button in all opened windows and your emoticon is ready to be used in your Windows Live Messenger conversations.
